பாவாணர் கூற்று:
“தொன்மை, முன்மை, நுண்மை, திண்மை, எண்மை, ஒண்மை, இனிமை, தனிமை, இளமை, வளமை, தாய்மை, தூய்மை, மும்மை, செம்மை, இயன்மை, வியன்மை என வரும் 16 செவ்வியல் தன்மைகளைக் கொண்டது செம்மொழி; அதுவே நம்மொழி” என்று கூறியவர் பாவாணர்.
