பிரவாசி பாரதீய சம்மான்

பிரவாசி பாரதீய சம்மான் (Pravasi Bharatiya Samman) என்பது வெளிநாடுவாழ் இந்தியருக்கான விருது. இது மகாத்மா காந்தி அடிகள் 1915 இல் தென்னாபிரிக்காவிலிருந்து இந்தியா வந்தடைந்த தினமான ஜனவரி ஒன்பதாம் நாளை நினைவுபடுத்தும் வகையில், வெளிநாட்டு இந்தியருக்கு ஆண்டுதோறும் வழங்கப்படுகிறது.

நோக்கம் :

வெளிநாடுகளில் வாழும் இந்தியர்கள் ஒன்று கூடி தமக்குள்ளும் இந்திய மத்திய அரசுடனும் மாநில அரசுடனும் கலந்துரையாடவும் இடைத்தொடர்புகளை மேற்கொள்ளவும், இந்திய நாட்டில் முதலீடு செய்வதற்கான வாய்ப்புகள் எவை என்பதை எடுத்துக் காட்டவும் இவ்விழாக்கள் உதவும்.

வெளிநாடுவாழ் இந்தியர் நாள்

வெளிநாடுவாழ் இந்தியர் நாள், 2003 ஆம் ஆண்டிலிருந்து ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஜனவரி 9 ஆம் நாள் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. இந்தியாவைத் தவிர்த்த பிற நாடுகளில் வாழும் இந்தியர்களின் நினைவாகக் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. மகாத்மா காந்தி, தென்னாப்பிரிக்காவிலிருந்து மும்பை வந்து சேர்ந்த நாளின் (ஜனவரி 9, 1915) நினைவாக இந்த நாள் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டது.  ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஒவ்வொரு இந்திய நகரத்தில் இவ்விழா கொண்டாடப்படும் எனத் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. விழாவின்போது, வெளிநாடுவாழ் இந்தியர்களுக்கு பிரவாசி பாரதீய சம்மான் (Pravasi Bharatiya Samman) விருது வழங்கப்படுகின்றது.

Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award

The Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) is the highest honour conferred on overseas Indians.

PBSA is conferred by the President of India as a part of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Conventions organized annually since 2003 on a Non-Resident Indian, Person of Indian Origin or an organization or institution established and run by the Non-Resident Indians or Persons of Indian Origin, who has made significant contribution in any one of the following fields:

(a) Better understanding abroad of India;
(b) Support to India’s causes and concerns in a tangible way;
(c) Building closer links between India, the overseas Indian community and their country of residence;
(d) Social and humanitarian causes in India or abroad;
(e) Welfare of the local Indian community;
(f) Philanthropic and charitable work;
(g) Eminence in one’s field or outstanding work, which has enhanced India’s prestige in the country
    of residence; or
(h) Eminence in skills which has enhanced India’s prestige in that country (for non-professional workers).
